Friday on the Farm

We have another new addition to the farm this week thanks to my friend Hope at Briar Lane Rabbitry !  She dropped off the sweetest little French angora rabbit last night.  Meet "Tucker":

Hope breeds for show rabbits and I breed for fiber, so I am hoping to get some beautiful rabbits from our combinations!

We continue to have strange weather here in Michigan.  Youngest and I were outside in the sunshine taking this pictures, a few minutes ago, and now as I write I am watching a snow squall outside the window!!  Next week we are supposed to have 50's and 60's all week long!

    Thank you for the wonderful tour of your beautiful farm last night! I loved seeing ALL of your animals and the way you have things set up :) Your son was so friendly too! I cannot wait to come visit again to chat and talk homeschooling, kids, and fiber arts :) Isaac will love seeing all of your animals too :)

Fiber Friday ~ Dyeing Fiber

Amazing sunrises and sunset on our little lake here in mid-Michigan have me pulling out my camera more and more. The view is just amazing. I sat last night and watched it as it changed from bright orange to purple and pinks to yellow and grey. I get inspired often from nature and had the idea last night to do some fiber dyeing and see if I can match these amazing colors and patterns.  Dyeing has been one of those fiber things that I would love to do more of, but there is definitely a technique to awesome colors and some people do it really well.   I am hoping to trying some natural dyes this year using some of the wild berries and plants we have all around us. For now I will be purchasing some fiber dye in hopes of mimicking some of the beautiful colors and patterns.

Upcoming Speak Up! Interview with Terri at Our Crazy Farm

I have mentioned quite often here about Hubby's "side job" in a ministry called Christian Devotions  where he hosts a Internet Blog Talk radio show called Speak Up!  He has been able to interview and "meet" some very awesome people.  He is very good at what he does and has a very good stage presence when it comes to interviewing people.  Me, not so much.  This is WAY out of my comfort zone.  I did help him about a year and a half ago and co-hosted with him, but didn't say too much. Why do I mention all of this?  Well I will be stepping WAY out of my comfort zone on November 29, because Scott is going to be interviewing a very dear "bloggy friend" Terry  .  I know a lot of you know who she is, and the faith walk her and her family have taken the 10 months.  I will be joining Scott to interview Terri.  I think this interview will have a grand impact on a lot of people and I hope some of you will join us and see where God is leading ...

First Day of Homeschooling~Nearing the Finish Line

We started on this journey 17 years ago, pretty much with no clue what we were doing. Hubby and I were both public school graduates, who leaped, both feet first, into the world of homeschooling with our five children. The three oldest had a year or two under their belt, the youngest two never stepped inside a school building. It was hard, wonderful, scary and fulfilling all at the same time. I know that is one my greatest achievements here on this earth.   The first day of school picture looks very different this year. Just him and I. My baby (not so much). Things change as they get older, learning to read and write is taken over by career goals and job searches. Making sure they can balance a checkbook, do laundry, and boil water for food (the struggle is real 😊😊) I find myself missing the days of reading out loud as all six of us pile on the couch in the afternoon.
