Friday on the Farm

Hopefully now that I'm back in blogger land this will be more of a regular occurrence. I love looking at old photos as I sit here to share today's with you. I see how much my kiddos have grown, how the farm has morphed, and all those great memories we sometimes forget about on a daily basis.  Getting ready for our second sons open house this last spring was especially difficult for me, again one of the season things. I kept thinking back to all the things I didn't do with the kids when they were younger.  Hubby's tradition has been making awesome photo videos to go along with vacations, end of the years and kids graduations. He did that for this son also. We were watching the finished project before the open house and I was simply amazed and my spirit entirely lifted by just watching that video. It was a reminder to me of all the things we did accomplish in his 18 years, and were there ever a ton of things we did.  Spend time today enjoying those memories of seasons past.

First Day of Homeschooling~Nearing the Finish Line

We started on this journey 17 years ago, pretty much with no clue what we were doing. Hubby and I were both public school graduates, who leaped, both feet first, into the world of homeschooling with our five children. The three oldest had a year or two under their belt, the youngest two never stepped inside a school building. It was hard, wonderful, scary and fulfilling all at the same time. I know that is one my greatest achievements here on this earth.   The first day of school picture looks very different this year. Just him and I. My baby (not so much). Things change as they get older, learning to read and write is taken over by career goals and job searches. Making sure they can balance a checkbook, do laundry, and boil water for food (the struggle is real 😊😊) I find myself missing the days of reading out loud as all six of us pile on the couch in the afternoon. Goat Alarm

Tripp and Tiberius and Momma Most farmers have roosters that let them know it is time to get up.  Not us, we picked goats.  That silly face staring at you is Robin.  She is one of the six goats that live here at Tail Spin Farm.  She is my alarm clock these days.  If I am not out to feed them before 5:45 a.m. she lets me know it is time at 5:46.  She has also taught the "new guys on the block", Tripp and Tiberius how things work so they have now joined her in her early morning tirade of goat song. I wouldn't mind it so much, except for the neighbors who live pretty close to us (we do all our "farming" on an acre!).  I would hate for there to be an issue in regards to this.  So I continue my early morning trip out to the barn hoping to beat her up.  I am just waiting for the hot days of summer and knowing that both neighbors have central air and their windows will be shut tight and I won't have to worry so much about waking someone early in the morning
