Hopefully now that I'm back in blogger land this will be more of a regular occurrence. I love looking at old photos as I sit here to share today's with you. I see how much my kiddos have grown, how the farm has morphed, and all those great memories we sometimes forget about on a daily basis.  Getting ready for our second sons open house this last spring was especially difficult for me, again one of the season things. I kept thinking back to all the things I didn't do with the kids when they were younger.  Hubby's tradition has been making awesome photo videos to go along with vacations, end of the years and kids graduations. He did that for this son also. We were watching the finished project before the open house and I was simply amazed and my spirit entirely lifted by just watching that video. It was a reminder to me of all the things we did accomplish in his 18 years, and were there ever a ton of things we did.  Spend time today enjoying those memories of seasons pas...

As we are quickly transitioning into a new season here in the middle of the Michigan mitt, life continues to quickly change also. As I look back over the last 3 years or so we have had 2 kids graduate and one move to college.The third child turned 18 and started a college class to finish out her final year of homeschool. The next daughter is going to be turning 16 soon and our "baby" is almost as tall as his dad and turned 13 this past summer. All of them in high school. I feel as if I blinked and the five kids that were ages 7 down to newborn, morphed into what they are today. In that time we spent almost two years in the foster care system and had four children ages 2 and under come into our home for some amount of time. We are so thankful for that time and those kids (not all of them were good experiences for our family). One in particular has become a "grandson" to us and even though he went home after 10 months here with us, we still see him weekly and are able...

It has been over a year without a successful batch of Angora rabbits here at the farm, and not without trying! We just haven't had any success breeding the last year. I purchased three new bunnies a few weeks ago in hopes of expanding, but they won't be ready to breed for a while yet.  This rabbit was one of the last young ones from my pedigreed angoras and we finally had seven babies born yesterday!

This week we had our first ever Tail Spin Farm tour! We had 47 kids plus about 15 adults come to our farm to learn about our fiber animals, spinning, knitting, crocheting, weaving and all things fiber. They were here for about 4 hours and the kids ranged in ages from kindergarten to 5th grade. Our family had an amazing time having the kids ask questions and trying to spin on the wheels and drop spindles. We hope to do it again soon!

We lost our storage barn that we affectionately called the "Ted" (think tent/garage in a box) like this:  to a storm a few weeks ago.  It held our hay, quad, lawn tractor, and random farm equipment.  So I lost my spot in the garage for my Suburban to keep the hay.  Hubby decided to try his hand at making a pallet barn. He was able to get all the pallets from his work for free. The only money we have put into this is the frame and roof. It cost less than $500! I am hopeful for another one in the near future for the animals! We have a few tweaks to do with it yet, but it is ready to be filled today!

This winter feels like it is never going to end. The ten day forecast doesn't look promising either. I have never been one who longs for going to a tropical island for a vacation, but that has changed this year. If Hubby comes home and said he bought us tickets for a cruise, I would be packed within the hour! The weather has made it difficult to do anything outside or even think about spring stuff that needs to be done around here.  We have another senior graduating this year! Our second son, Cameron will be finishing out his homeschool career and heading for his next great adventure. We have stuck with the tradition that Hubby and I had which is an open house. Eldest son's went off without a hitch a couple years ago and I am hoping for the same for this one. But, it is the first week of June, after this winter I'm concerned we could still have snow! I continue to try and expand my yarn business beyond the yarn, hats and scarves. Angora is warm, very warm. Like 7 times warmer than wool. I have tried to create some different ways to wear angora year round with out sweating under a hat or scarf. The newest item I have in my etsy shop is a crochet cuff bracelet. It is 100% hand raised rabbits, and made right here at our small farm by me. I also have unique spun necklaces that I will be putting back into my shop. These vary in color, length, pendant, and beads, but they are all beautiful and fun to wear year round!
