Time

Image
Time can be a funny thing, especially as we age. I remember in elementary school when three months summer break was a lifetime. My last post here was in September, just a little over five short months ago. In that short period of time we sold the farm, and had the deal fall out from under us, only after getting rid of all my beloved animals because we were moving, I shut down our home daycare and on top of all of that our oldest daughter got engaged AND married.  I feel like I've lived a lifetime in less than six months, but life moves on. We are still waiting to sell our farm a second time. Thankfully the deal on our lake home is still on, but I am in limbo. Usually this time of the year includes scheduling shearing for the goats and alpacas, ordering meat birds, ordering seeds for the garden and getting them started and ready for the greenhouse, getting ready for the farmers market and the list goes on. A Time For Everything "There is a time for everything, and a ...

Friday on the Farm ~ My Crazy Life

Image
I am pretty sure reality TV shows are birthed out of lives like mine. Over the last four years we have gutted and remodeled a huge portion of our farmhouse, graduated three children from homeschool, became foster parents to four children under 2 years old, started a daycare to continue care for two of these kiddos and expanded the daycare to include others that are in our care still today. All the while keeping up with our small farm, Hubby's day job changing and growing and his radio ministry continuing. Crazy. There really is no other word that explains it better. Somewhere along the way I lost parts of myself that I truly love. Simple things like baking and cooking, making things, crocheting and knitting, even my spinning of yarn from our animals became tedious because there was always something else. God has a way of answering prayers in the least likely of ways. Yup, that is a lock box. Yup, we're selling the farm. In the last 6 weeks we spotted a lake house for sale ...

Still Here!

Image
I continue to be amazed how "time flies" and we continue to get busier than we were previously. There are many changes happening here at our home and farm. I won't go into great detail because I feel like each one of them could be a post itself. Kiddos are growing, getting older, and slowly flying the nest. The last six months or so have many changes happening. The farm is still going in full swing as are the fiber animals and all the fiber stuff that comes with them. One thing I know is I have missed blogging. I miss writing and recording things here on the blog. I hope to do better with this. My website is in the process of being upgraded and turned into something that I can also sell farm goods on. Baby chicks in the tractor Are you my brother from another mother? My garden is stunted with all the rain we've had in Michigan so far! The sunsets have been spectacular so far this spring and summer.

Nesting ~ Friday on the Farm

Image
Having the privilege of being a mama to five, both boys and girls, I have been able to be a "watcher" of their gender differences. Things that are a big deal to us girls, really doesn't matter to the life of a boy. I am extremely visual in everything I do, especially being creative. I decorate the house fitting to my personality. Hubby could really care less. Not that he doesn't care, but it truly is not on his radar. God created us so different. Now anyone who knew me 25 years ago would never guess that I love nesting. I love cooking, decorating, creating, cleaning, laundry...well may be that is going to far, but you get the idea. I truly believe God created ALL women with this gift. Some do it better than others, some are never able to find it within themselves.  I struggle with this idea, but we spent years in the foster care system taking in children and seeing first hand women who have not embraced this gift. Now this doesn't mean boys don't get it. The...

First Annual Funny Pajama Day!

Image
With the kids quickly getting older, I am trying to come up with some new family traditions that work for our growing family (and hopefully beyond someday:)) I declared today our first annual funny pajama day. What makes it funny? Well each person received a new pair of pj's fitting to their personality.  Hubby's is self explanatory and boy does he fit the "superman" title! Mine say "Super Mom", Eldest is "I have a piano and I'm not afraid to use it", Next is "Real Men Love Cats", #1 D is I'm and Artist (spelled backwards) Your rules don't apply", #2 D says "I'd rather be reading" and youngest says "No, I will not fix your computer"  We had so much fun with this today! I encourage everyone out there to get creative and not discouraged with the ever changing seasons of your own family! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
